In their classes, students will become proficient using software tools such as Microsoft Office and GoogleDocs-tools that are used in higher education and careers in the corporate world. While in class students may use their computers to take notes, do research, write assignments, complete an online quiz, create a multimedia presentation, or collaboratively create a shared document. They can use their computers to research, gather, and evaluate information, write summaries, analyses, and opinions, and communicate effectively to convey meaning and rationale. Students can collaborate online with their peers in the class, in other schools, or in other countries to gain and contribute multiple perspectives. When every student has a computer, teaching and learning can become much more dynamic and engaging which leads to deeper understanding and more connections to real world applications.
